Terms and Conditions
Bangor Window Replacement introduces homeowners to independent window and door contractors. Our matching service is free to homeowners, and participating contractors pay us on closed work.
The contractor you select measures and prices your project and takes responsibility for the construction contract and installation. You pay the contractor directly.
These terms explain the limits of our introduction service and preserve the homeowner rights that applicable law provides. Read the full terms before requesting an introduction.
Effective November 4, 2026. Last updated November 4, 2026.
These Bangor Window Replacement terms and conditions govern every visit to this website, from reading our pages on windows and doors to using a form that drafts an estimate request. A window or door job that an independent contractor performs for you runs under the contract the two of you sign, and nothing on this page alters that contract.
Who We Are
Bangor Window Replacement is a free homeowner matching service based in Bangor, Maine, serving Bangor and 21 nearby towns across Penobscot County and nearby parts of Hancock and Waldo counties. We are A Seth's Home Pros Company, and we introduce homeowners to independent window and door installers who work in the Penobscot Valley.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Bangor Window Replacement, and "you" means the person using this website. Independent contractors measure, quote, sign contracts, pull permits, collect payment and warrant the work, not us.
Who May Use This Site
This website is written for adults making decisions about their homes. You must be at least 18 years old to use it, and using it confirms that you are.
Fair Use of the Site
Read the pages here to learn how window and door replacement works, and use the forms to describe the openings you want an installer to look at. Keep what you enter truthful and your own, and do not attempt to crash, flood or tamper with the site.
What Our Price Ranges Mean
The price ranges printed on our pages are averages gathered from many quotes across the Bangor area, and they exist to help you set a planning budget. A range is never an offer, a bid or a price for your specific house, and it is never a quote from us.
Your real figure comes out of what the installer sees at the opening: insert or full frame, the material you choose, the size and the style, any rot behind the old window and the condition of the interior trim. For an entry door, the figure depends on the slab, any sidelights or transom, whether the existing frame stays, and whether the threshold and subsill are sound.
Asking for an Estimate
A homeowner match through Bangor Window Replacement is free, and using our forms obligates neither side. Our forms prepare an email draft on your device, and the request reaches us only once you send that email, write to us directly or call.
We may decline a request from beyond the 22 towns we cover, or for work outside our trade: roofs, gutters, siding, decks, additions, kitchens, baths, single-pane glass repair and storm windows on their own.
How the Matching Service Is Paid
Our service is free to homeowners. Participating contractors pay us a commission on work that closes, and you contract with and pay the installer directly.
We introduce contractors we have vetted, yet the choice of installer is yours, and the agreement is between you and that installer.
Maine's Contract and Deposit Rules
10 MRSA ยง1487, Maine's home construction contract statute, requires any job over $3,000 in labor or materials to be put in writing and signed by both the homeowner and the contractor. Each of you keeps a signed copy before work starts, and the initial down payment is capped at one third of the total contract price.
Scope, materials, product selections, the payment schedule and the dates for your project live in that written contract, not on this website. A change in price goes into a written change order signed by both sides, as Maine's Attorney General describes, and that is the route rot found under an old sill takes into a Bangor job.
No Warranty From This Website
This website warrants and guarantees nothing about your project. Warranty coverage comes from two places only: the contract you sign with the installer, and the manufacturer's published warranty on the product that goes in the opening.
Trademarks
Our pages mention product makers by name, such as Andersen, Harvey, Marvin, Pella, ProVia, Simonton and Therma-Tru, and each of those names is the property of its owner. No manufacturer is affiliated with Bangor Window Replacement or Seth's Home Pros, and none has reviewed or endorsed this site.
Contractor Licensing in Maine
Maine does not license general contractors, so no state contractor license number applies to this business. For work over $3,000, the written contract described above is the protection Maine law gives you, and it is the document to read closely before signing.
Ask any installer you meet for proof of general liability insurance, workers' compensation where crews are employees, references from recent window and door work and a written scope and price. Choosing a contractor is your decision.
Permits, Historic Listing and Shoreland Rules
Each town decides for itself whether window or door work needs a permit and whether that permit issues. Bangor's Code Enforcement office is at 73 Harlow Street and can be reached at 207-992-4230 or [email protected], and the installer files whichever permits apply.
Bangor has a Historic Preservation Commission that reviews exterior changes inside its local historic districts, including window replacement. If your house sits inside one of those districts, the installer will route the application through the commission before ordering windows, and the commission's decision rests with the city.
A listing on the National Register of Historic Places places no federal restriction on what the private owner does, unless the project receives federal assistance, according to the National Park Service. Land near a lake, a river or a stream can sit inside a town's shoreland zone, governed under Maine's shoreland zoning program, and the code office is the place to confirm that before work begins.
Lead Paint in Older Houses
Bangor's housing stock is one of the older ones in the region, and a large share of homes were built before 1978. Anyone paid to disturb painted surfaces in a pre-1978 home must be certified under the Environmental Protection Agency's lead-safe renovation program, and that applies to window replacement because the trim and the sash gasket surfaces are disturbed.
Ask the installer for a current RRP firm certification before paid work begins on an older house.
Start and Finish Dates
Maine's contract law has the contract state an estimated start date and an estimated substantial completion date. Either date can slip for causes the contractor cannot control, including a job site that is not ready and building materials that are unavailable.
Custom window orders, a stretch of foul weather and rotten framing hidden behind an old unit can each move a schedule in the Penobscot Valley. This website binds no one to a start date or a finish date.
General Information, Not Advice
What our pages say about flashing, sill pans, insert versus full frame, glass packages, lead paint, planning prices, town rules and window materials is general information for homeowners. It is not legal, engineering or code advice, and a web page cannot stand in for a trained installer looking at your actual openings.
On a code question about one particular property, the final say rests with the town's code officer.
Texting Terms
The terms below take effect when you opt in to texts through one of our forms.
- Topics: your match request, and then project updates about the window or door work once an installer is engaged.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.
- Stopping and help: text STOP to stop our messages or HELP for help, and a single reply confirms the STOP.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. You can use the service without opting in to texts, because text consent is not a condition of any purchase.
Our Privacy Policy describes how your phone number and consent are handled.

Links to Other Websites
Links on these pages point to town code offices, the Maine Legislature's statutes, the Maine Attorney General, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Park Service, the Department of Energy's Building America Solution Center and other outside resources. We do not control those sites, and each one is responsible for its own content.
Photographs and Project Contact
Photographs on this website are stock or illustrative images and are not represented as completed projects by Bangor Window Replacement or Seth's Home Pros. Dan Thibodeau is listed on the site as a project contact who helps you describe your window and door project, not as an installer, estimator or supervisor of construction.
Liability
To the full extent Maine law allows, Bangor Window Replacement is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its general information. This limit does not touch work performed under a signed contract between you and an independent installer, which that contract alone governs.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms when needed, and the version this page displays at the time of your visit is the one that governs. Continuing to use the site after a revision appears counts as accepting the revision.
Governing Law
Maine law governs these terms. A dispute about this website belongs in a Maine state court or in a federal court sitting in Maine.
